Counselling

Ruth Lamb, RCC

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) serving Abbotsford, Langley and surrounding communities. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with specific training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Narrative Therapy.

For the last seven years I have been working within a women’s resource organization that provides services to women who have experienced violence in their intimate relationships, sexual assault, and/or childhood abuse.

I was later selected to lead its Women’s Counselling Program which specializes in trauma therapy for women.
Increasingly in my work I found that there were reoccurring themes of shame, silencing and isolation in women’s experience of pregnancy, birth, loss and motherhood. This led me to pursue my Doula training in 2014 so that I could better support the women I worked with in the embodied experience of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Since then, my interest in maternal and reproductive health has expanded into my private practice where I work with women who have experienced a wide array of peri-natal and post-natal concerns including: perinatal anxiety and depression, birth trauma, ambivalence, postpartum depression and anxiety and pregnancy loss and termination.
I believe in partnering with women to create an environment of trust and safety and use modalities rooted in the values of empowerment, meaning making and consciousness raising.
In addition to being contracted through the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP) of BC, my services are also covered under most medical insurance plans.

I am thrilled to be part of this multi-disciplinary team and hope to provide meaningful and reparative support to women and their families.
